Established late 2015, Lion’s Roar CrossFit is a 4500 square foot facility located in recently renovated Hampton Station (which we love, because there’s not much better after a hard workout than a beer from Birds Fly South or a taco from White Duck. Soon we’ll have coffee, too, when Due South moves in.).
We are Greenville, South Carolina’s premier CrossFit, strength and conditioning and olympic weightlifting gym, offering high intensity group classes, bootcamp challenges and personal training. We pride ourselves on emphasizing safe movements and proper technique, which is consistently coached and re-coached in order to improve overall performance.
Here, you won’t find rows of ellipticals and weight machines. Instead, we’re equipped with a freestanding pull-up/squat rig, 1000s of lbs of bumper plates, kettlebells, medicine balls, soft plyoboxes, rowers, Pendlay and Eleiko weightlifting bars and training plates, two dedicated platforms, a set of jerk blocks and various other equipment. You’ll find wide-open spaces for workouts and movements that are constantly varied, always challenging and never boring.
More importantly, you won’t find a group of people who just happen to be at the gym at the same time, isolated by headphones and televisions; you’ll find a community of athletes, coaches, moms, dads, friends, who all care, cheer on and motivate one another to be the best versions of themselves.

Todd comes to Lion’s Roar from Greensboro, NC. He first got into coaching working with team sport athletes 16 years ago, specifically football. In designing workouts for those athletes, he found CrossFit. Todd enjoys working with all types of athletes who are looking to move better and become more fit. He gets excited when they are willing to try something new in or outside the gym. Olympic lifts and endurance metcons are his favorite thing to coach and do. Outside the gym, he enjoys swimming, biking on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, and hiking with his girlfriend Ashlee and their dog Brutus. If you ever workout with Todd, be prepared to go fast and listen to country music.

Alyssa McNeel joined the Lion’s Roar community in January 2017 after moving to Greenville from New Hampshire. She holds a CrossFit Level One certification and has three years of group fitness instruction experience. Her favorite aspect of CrossFit is the idea of functional fitness and seeing movements from the gym translate to everyday life. Alyssa grew up being “generally active” but hated the idea of working out and refused to go to the gym. In 2012 that changed when she discovered group classes. She developed a passion for fitness and began pursuing her certifications. She loves the challenge of CrossFit and aims to help others reach their goals whether they’re experienced or just beginning their journey.
